1972 – 47ft Horizon Pilot House (Sweet Freedom) Registered Internationally, moored in Maple Bay – Pin/buoy moorage can be taken over (good folks there). Always kept in the islands. Steel. Worked on by some of the best on the island (and beyond) to this end I’m told and did meet them once, and spoke with one individual, before buying the boat at length. “ Guy -You don’t really realize what you have there, do you” “Me – No, but seems like good bones” “Laughter on both sides”. They tried to help me, gracefully considering, but life as we all know can set in heavy. And the good bones remain. The boat has quite a history. 1st Owner: apparently wanted to sail to Mexico with his wife and poured a bunch of money to refurbish the boat, especially the interior of the boat. Fire, at dock, took out sails, but boat ultimately in good shape. The next owner brought the boat out and put allot of time and effort into extending the boat by 8 feet, put a huge trunk on the back, diesel gen, never used, refurbished entire boat, put special layers of paint, etc, all professionally done. Put bilge keels on it so they could beach it at will wagner driving systems, extended the keel, put on brass prop new NewPort Fireplace – large one, etc. This boat is not for a novice, like me Then I got the boat without a mast, superficial wounds due to a small craft bending one the steel rails, cracked paint, and it streaks rust – looks like crap until you clean/fix, but fairly superficial. Due to covid and the hysteria therein completely altered my world, lived on it for a while at dock and on Pin, trying to be able to bring it back to full life, but cannot and need to sell. The realization that it is too much boat for me, once up and running with sails, set-in as well. Selling for a decent price but needs work: I’ll get into that. - 4 cylinder Isuzu Marine Diesel: Amazing on fuel - Heart 2000 electrical system - Separate galley – Newport stuff - Full aft cabin - Separate head, with shower. - Extra fresh water holding tanks put in from the original - Full pilot house – built to be sailed from inside. (Have all sails) - Electronics work, but would service and/or swap – use a tablet and phone type of thing. Depth finder, fish finder, plotter etc …. Not sure about CB. - Everything is top of the line, in its day, which is why still works or will work. What does it need? 1) Brought out, painted, zincs and engine serviced – Low hours on engine. 2) There is work to be done on outside to clean up, make right basically, a bit of grinding – its steel. 3) A very good cleaning – cushions etc. I wanted to reupholster but largely ok, after being cleaned. 4) The main cabin carpet is gone – was going to replace with cork, looks good, etc., and low cost. 5) Presently throttle seized in forward – Apparently, not a big deal – will try to get resolved. 6) Needs house batteries most likely, just to be safe. 7) Some work needs to be done to exhaust – not much, but a tiny leak that must be fixed, just as we reached Maple Bay, coming from Swartz Bay. Everything, but bringing it out is common straightforward stuff to service, as is bringing out and servicing, but cost wise to get as good as required. I was offered a correct mast for this boat, 2x for 5k and under – Just didn’t have it. Will consider partial trades, maybe payments to the right person/people. If not mechanically/trades inclined I can introduce to some reputable, yet financially feasible folks. Sold as is, where is with all her faults, as to me. A potentially amazing boat in the right hands, which, sadly, are not mine.
